Brendan Allen Reacts to Post-Fight Criticism from 'Irrelevant' Marvin Vettori

Marvin Vettori was clearly not impressed with Brendan Allen’s performance.

Vettori, who was originally supposed to face Allen in the UFC Fight Night 240 main event before withdrawing from the card due to injury, took to social media to critique Allen’s split-decision victory over replacement foe Chris Curtis at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night. It was Allen’s seventh consecutive triumph within the Las Vegas-based promotion and sixth in a row at middleweight. In the immediate aftermath, “All In” made his case for a 185-pound title shot, something that Vettori doesn’t believe he deserves.

“Allen [what the f—k you] calling for the title, man? You looked like dog s—t, got rocked every single round and prayed you were getting the takedown just to hang in there,” Vettori wrote on X. “That s—-t was embarrassing.”

Vettori’s remarks were then relayed to Allen at Saturday’s post-fight press conference. As one might expect, the Kill Cliff FC standout wasn’t interested in hearing any of it.

“He’s irrelevant,” Allen said. “He can’t even make it to a fight. He don’t want to fight. He can go on, he’s old news. We’re going up. Pillow fists. He could have got the business tonight, he could have got it this week, he could have gotten it in Miami. What? You want to talk now?

“The only time the dude wants to talk is when there’s people in between us. It’s that simple. We were prepping for him. We came and we got an even better, more technical guy, that’s better than him at what he does and puts people away. Who’s he put away? Get the f—k out of here. We ain’t worried about f—-ing Marvin.”

Vettori, a former middleweight title challenger, has been in his share of headliners during his UFC tenure. He last appeared at UFC on ESPN 47, where he dropped a five-round verdict to Jared Cannonier in the evening’s main event this past June. However, Allen believes “The Italian Dream” needs to stay active to maintain his standing in the middleweight division.

“… You can’t stay in your position f—-ing not fighting,” Allen said. “The guy above me ain’t fought in a year and a half, whatever. He was supposed to fight tonight, he backed out because of his shoulder, which we knew before, welcome to Florida. You can’t win the war if you don’t make it to the war. You can’t talk s—t if you don’t make it to the war that you were supposed to come to. Simple as that. I’m here in Vegas, so what? Come see me.”

Ultimately, Allen seems to have moved on from a potential fight with Vettori, though their beef has only intensified following Saturday night’s card.

“...It is what it is. I’m really about whatever. I don’t care. I ain’t going to start nothing but I ain’t no b—h, and I ain’t going to run away from it,” Allen said. “At the end of the day, that’s the only thing left I have to say to Marvin. We’re not going to fight unless you want to fight me here, at my gym, whatever. You’re behind me. You had your chance twice. You could’ve fought me last year. You could’ve fought me tonight. I prepared. I showed up. I saved the card with Chris. That’s the last thing I’ll say regarding Marvin.”
